    May 13, 2017 /

Kyoto is a city of magical temples, delicious food, and true Japanese culture. We loved our week there and felt like we really connected with Japan and its fascinating history. Kyoto was one of the most important Japanese cities throughout history and served as the capital and home to many emperors and temples. Here are my favorite 4 places to visit!  FUSHIMI INARI Fushimi Inari was my favorite place in Kyoto! It is known as the shrine of 10,000 torii (gates) and was built in the 700s dedicated to the god of rice Inari. It is a whole complex of little shrines and many mystical pathways created by thousands torii…

Empowering Girls to Live Up to their Full Potential in a Refugee Camp

    March 22, 2017 /

In honor of International Women’s Day 2 weeks ago, this post is dedicated to all the women and girls around the world who are working hard everyday and are persevering to have equal rights and opportunities. While volunteering in the refugee camp of Piraeus in Athens Greece, I noticed many teenage boys did not believe their teenage girl peers could for play football (soccer), volleyball and other activities. Being a teenage girl myself, these stereotypes bothered me so much that we tried our best to break these stereotypes and encourage the other girls to do the same. My family and I started by primarily empowering girls to believe in themselves…

Travel :: Tips and Highlights for Visiting Thailand with Kids

    February 27, 2017 /

“You’re going Where???  To Thailand???  And you you’re taking the kids??? Wow…”  That pretty much sums up the reaction we got when we told people where we were headed over Thanksgiving break.   I understand their reactions.  After I got married and started planning to have kids, my motto was “I’ll never stop travelling!  We’ll just bring the kids with us, of course!”  In my previous life (as I like to call it),  I was blessed with a love of travel.  I visited 5 continents and over 25 countries and I had no intention of letting a silly little thing called “motherhood” get in the way of continuing…

Field Trippin’ Moms Head to Spain

    January 19, 2017 /

Wanderlust has a cure. We are two moms with three kids each, animals, carpools, sports, volunteering, etc…you know the drill. We are happy to do it all and even enjoy it (most of the time). We are also fortunate enough to have husbands that have encouraged us to embrace our travel dreams! Traveling in January may seem odd to some, but for us, it is ideal because it’s affordable, there are less tourist and it’s off-season for our kids sports.     The Winter Winds called this year and sent us to Madrid, Spain. Visiting Madrid wasn’t at the top of our travel list, but we had the…
