PBS KIDS’ annual “Explore the Outdoors” initiative kicks off on April 10th with a week of new episodes from WILD KRATTS and NATURE CAT! It’s an Earth Month celebration as the STEM focused shows encourage families to head outside and explore what’s in their own backyard. Kids can continue the discovery within their community as more than 30 local PBS member stations will be hosting Earth Month-related events such as lessons on local ecology to urban hiking and biking trails. Celebrate Earth Day All Month Long With PBS Kids!
Beginning this month, PBS KIDS is springing into Earth Month with its annual Explore the Outdoors initiative, encouraging families to get outside and discover nature. Our family loves to take nature walks and we try to do this together a couple times a week. Sometimes we head to our local park with the dog (though he is not a good family walker – he gets too excited and does better on solo walks!) or the Back Bay while our daughter rides her bike. PBS KIDS’ “Odd-tober” begins with an all-new ODD SQUAD one-hour special and the return of Halloween-themed family favorites from various series! On Monday, October 5, PBS KIDS will premiere “ODD SQUAD: Against the Odds,” which will include five 11-minute stories with Olive, Otto and the rest of the gang as they solve the community’s strange problems. As part of the PBS Kids VIP group I was provided some books and other materials to host a PBS Kids Summer Reading party. My daughter and I are always up for a party and especially if it is one where we are encouraging young readers a love of books! The Kratt Brothers Teach Kids About Wildlife in a New Special
There are so many great programs on television that help parents supplement their children’s education. One of my favorite programs is the Wild Kratt’s. These brothers, Chris and Martin, have brought the fun into wildlife. Since watching Zoboomafoo with my then 3 year old, our family have been big fans of these two. As a kid, I use to love watching the nature programs and learn about the world around us. My daughter shares this same love of nature and we enjoy watching Wild Kratt’s together quite often. Explore the Outdoors with PBS Kids
This week PBS KIDS and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) announced the annual Explore the Outdoors campaign and partnership, which encourages families to celebrate nature and the outdoors this spring! Starting April 7, PBS KIDS kicks off Earth Month with themed on-air programming and online and mobile content.
