What’s Hot in Southern California :: Knott’s Camp Spooky Halloween Event

If you grew up in southern California you probably have visited Knott’s Berry Farm theme park as a kid.  I loved going to Knott’s and remember eating the yummy pie and funnel cakes.  In fact, I wanted to share the Knott’s Berry Farm experience with my daughter, so we purchased the year-round tickets this year.  It is quite the bargain and we have full access to the park year-round (and even the water park) for under $200.  Last time my daughter and I went to Knott’s Berry Farm we headed to the famous Mrs. Knott’s Restaurant and ate a delicious plate of fried chicken and her famous pie. We even ran into some cowboys in the park (see below) and had some fun with them.  That is one of the things I love most about Knott’s Berry Farm is the California history you see throughout the park. With Halloween coming up (and it being one of our favorite holidays), I was so excited to find out that they have transformed Camp Snoopy into Camp Spooky on weekends in October.   This would be perfect for her as we both love The Peanuts, Halloween and Knott’s!

 Celebrate Halloween in Camp Spooky:

Camp Spooky is perfect for children ages 3-11 and is a daytime, non-scare celebration that celebrates cheer rather than fear with the kids.  There are fun shows, activities and trick-or-treating that are geared for the kids.  Several activities they have planned include Snoopy’s Costume Contest where they can show off their costumes as they join a group of monsters, the PEANUTS gang, in a spirited procession through Camp Snoopy.  Charlie Brown’s Spooktacular Show in the Camp Spooky Theatre will probably have the kids dancing and singing right along with Charlie Brown and Snoopy!  I bet I will have to keep my daughter from running up on stage as she is a bit of a hambone!

They also have the Monster Factory which is a fun interactive maze where the kids run through to their hearts content.  We are looking forward to checking out the Creepy Crawly Critter Cave to check out the slithery, slimy, creepy, crawly critters they have displayed.  And if you like to listen to tall tales, check out the Scary Stories at the Lodge where storytellers will be telling the silliest, craziest and creepiest tales – all age-appropriate of course!  Included in the theme park admission, your child will be able to fill their bucket with sweet treats given out at five Trick-or-Treating locations in Camp Spooky.  My daughter is most excited about this aspect of the event!

Camp Spooky runs weekends October 5-27 and is included with regular park admission.  Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park operating hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.  For more information on all the exciting things that are going on at Knott’s Berry Farm, call (714) 220-5200 or visit us online at www.knotts.com.
