What’s Hot In Southern California: Camp Spooky at Knott’s Berry Farm

Southern California has no shortage of entertainment venues. But when we decide to treat our kids to an amusement park, we head to Knott’s Berry Farm. As America’s First Theme Park, Knott’s is rich in both fun and history. You can wander through Ghost Town, take a trip back in time at the Western Trails Museum, climb on board a stagecoach, or hitch a ride on the Calico Railroad for a ride around the park (with an appearance by the friendliest train robbers you’ll ever meet).

Knott’s features seasonal events, and with Halloween approaching, they have transformed the park accordingly. At night, the park re-opens as Knott’s Scary Farm, a popular and terrifying spookfest. But on weekends throughout October and on Halloween Day, Camp Snoopy is transformed into Camp Spooky– a scare-free Halloween-themed area perfect for kids 3-11.

Camp Spooky: Fun For the Whole Family:

We were given the opportunity to enjoy a trip to Knott’s and check out Camp Spooky first hand. The kids loved the Mini Monster Maze – from the giant glowing jack-o’-lanterns to the fun slide-they even got a special Halloween treat on their way out. Their other favorite activity was making their very own potions in the Potion Parlour. Somehow, we completely missed Medusa’s Bug Boutique, but with all the real creepy-crawling creatures here, I know my kids would have loved it.

Lots To Do in Camp Spooky:

It’s hot here and it still feels like summer so we loved the festive fall decorations with all the pumpkins and hay. And the kids had fun with the photo-ops throughout Camp Spooky, particularly with Mummy’s Manor where they got to spin the parts to create their own monster. I think my favorite photo-op though was Snoopy himself. My son, who has through the years consistently kept his distance from theme park mascots, got a big hug from Snoopy and was excited to see and be photographed with the other members of the Peanuts Gang. He even went on stage during the Costume Contest to shake hands and show off his cowboy attire.

Oh, did I mention the food? Breakfast at the Grizzly Creek Lodge was delish and our family recently introduced us to the fry specialists at Knott’s – two locations: Calico Fry Co. in Calico Square near the entrance of the Wagon Camp theatre and La Papa Loca in Fiesta Village. French fries smothered in delicious toppings. I couldn’t resist making a stop at the fry stand while we were there.

A season pass is such a great deal. For only 9 payments of $8.50 you get unlimited visits to Knott’s for all of 2015. You’ll make tons of fun family memories and get to experience all the seasons of fun that Knott’s has to offer. It’s spooktacular! Happy Halloween!  Read more about 2015 Knott’s Berry Farm Season Passes here.

Note:  We were provided tickets to enjoy Camp Spooky for the day from Giga Savvy.  All opinions are our own.
