Easy Tips for Getting Your Pantry Organized

I have been on a mission to get our home decluttered and organized.  I would almost say it is bordering on an obsession!  When I have a couple hours, you can usually find me going through each room in the house getting rid of stuff we no longer: use, need or want.  Two weekends ago I cleared out the Master Bedroom sink area and it felt so good.  Three trash bags later I felt so great!  Now, I am looking to get our pantry organized and will share pictures once it is done but went on a hunt to find some ideas to try out. Here are some of my favorites.  Do you want to join me and organize your pantry?  Let’s do this.

Mix and Match:

I like how this blogger used glass jars and baskets and organized her cookbooks on the top shelf.  Great ideas! Source:  Found on Pinterest.

Add some color:

My dream pantry comes from The Handmade Home.  From the teal paint color to shelving units – this is true love.  Sigh.  Just wish my husband was handy (or I was!).  But if you are a DIYer – definitely check out her ideas here.  This fun family has the best ideas!

Put a label on it:

I think once you started putting your food in these clear containers you won’t go back to shoving boxes in your pantry.  Doesn’t it look so pretty?  Courtesy of The Decorating File

Everything in it’s place:

Love all of the pantry ideas from Burlap and Denim!  She admits to being an obsessive organizer but I sure do like her ideas!  Especially the baskets for onions and potatoes and metal bins for chips – very cute!

Small Pantry Ideas:

And Megan from The Homes I Have Made saved the day!  We have a very small pantry so I love these ideas of hers!  I am off to get some clear plastic containers to get mine up to par.

UPDATE:

It took me a some time but I finally got our cabinets organized.  I found that I didn’t need to buy any containers (thankfully) but just needed to organized things better.  I used white liners and some adorable teal polka dot tape to keep the liners in place.  I think it adds a little fun to the cabinets.

Here is our BEFORE picture.  Pretty bad I know but just keeping it real.  Sadly, our pantry were in dire need of some TLC!  I threw out all spices that either we don’t use or looks like they’ve been hanging around too long. I purchased these containers at The Container Store a few years back and they help keep things organized.

I separated our baking goodies into their own tray so we can pull this out when it is baking time.  You can put the cupcake holders in a mason jar or other glass jar you might have around the house.  This one comes from IKEA.

Putting flour, sugar and other baking goods in these containers helps keep you organized so you can easily see when you are getting low on an item. Plus I think it looks much more organized! I love the glass jars and you can pick them up pretty cheaply at your local discount store.
