THE SCIENCE BEHIND PIXAR EXHIBITION at the California Science Center :: A Giveaway

Last weekend we attended The Science Behind Pixar Exhibition at the California Science Center.  I am a bit embarrassed to say we had never visited the center before but I am so glad we had the opportunity to see firsthand all the wonderful things going on at the center! We even took a tour through the Exposition Park Rose Garden (amazing!) and The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles (also amazing).  You can take the family and spend the whole day enjoying all that this area has to offer.

The Science Behind Pixar Animation:

The Science Behind Pixar Animation Exhibition is such a treat for anyone interested in animation and moving-making.  The exhibition opened to the public October 15th and will going on until April 2017.  You definitely have time to make plans but you don’t want to miss this amazing hands-on exhibition. You can enjoy a unique look into the Pixar process and explore the science and technology behind some of the most beloved animated films and their characters with The Science Behind Pixar Exhibition. With more than 40 interactive exhibit elements, the exhibition’s eight sections each focus on a step in the filmmaking process to give you an unparalleled view of the production pipeline and concepts used at Pixar every day. Participate in fun, engaging hands-on activities, listen to firsthand accounts from members of the studio’s production teams, an even come face-to-face with re-creations of your favorite Pixar film characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Dory, Mike and Sulley, Edna Mode, and WALL•E! This exhibition was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios.

“The Science Behind Pixar Exhibition is a fun, hands-on experience where guests can explore the art and science of animation at Pixar as though they were part of the production team,” said Jeffrey N. Rudolph, President and CEO at the California Science Center. “It’s a great opportunity for them to participate in the step-by-step process where art incorporates science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to make all the elements of an animated film seem more believable.” Visitors will be invited to experience different roles within the production pipeline.

Exhibit highlights include:

Sets & Cameras – Discover how a bugs-eye view was achieved for A Bug’s Life, through camera angles and large-set design within the computer.
