Dwell :: Decorating with Aqua, Teal and Turquoise
Colors can evoke such emotion in one don’t you think? I have loved aqua, teal and turquoise for many years now and it is quite apparent since you will find these colors in pretty much every room in our house! I was curious about the difference between the three as they can be mistaken for each other sometimes so here is a color chart. These colors can be used in just about any style home but it does remind you a bit of mid-century design. If you watched Mad Men you know what I mean! You will find these colors in pretty much all the decor throughout the series. What is one of your favorite colors to design with in your home? Here are some ideas to try out. Happy Decorating!
Aqua Rooms:
Laundry Rooms
Loving this aqua laundry room! Our laundry room is a tad darker than this one but I am really happy we went with such a bright and happy color! This image comes from Sublime Decor.
Another fun aqua laundry room! Love the writing! Found on Postris.
Kitchen Backsplash
When I came across this aqua glass backsplash I immediately fell in love with the style and color. I think it is important to follow your gut when choosing colors for your home but it is always good to get second opinions when it comes to projects that are more permanent! I asked two interior decorator friends about this backsplash and they both gave it a thumbs up.
DIY Hombre dresser
This is such a fun idea! And cost effective! Tutorial found on Home Edit.
Girls Bedroom
Love this color combination! Found on Rosenberry Rooms.
Teal Rooms
Teen Room
Like the brown and turquoise combination! More turquoise bedroom ideas can be found on Interior Vogue.
I’ve always loved orange with turquoise and teal! Throughout our home you’ll find pops of orange and a ton of aqua, turquoise and teals. This is such a stylish room where they mixed turquoise and teal together with pops of orange. Also found on Interior Vogue.
Accent Wall
We painted two of our living and dining walls this pretty teal-quoise color (our made up name since it is a mix of the two colors) and we really love it. Think about painting just one wall to bring in some color.
DIY Bookcase
What a great idea to paint the back of a bookcase. Image found on Pinterest.
Living Room
This color combination just looks so rich and inviting. More great ideas found on Design Meet Style.
Turquoise Rooms

As you can see Turquoise works in so many different style homes. Love the abstract artwork and chandelier! Found on High Fashioned Home.
Accent Pieces
We found this tray at a local discount store and use it to put our remotes, a candle and some fresh flowers. These colors look great with browns and woods.
A Statement Piece
This turquoise chair needs to be in my living room. Just saying! What a great way to greet guests! Christina Gregoire of Boomerinas writes about why she loves bright colors in her life. Image found on Boomerinas site.
Tween Bedroom
I would not have thought to mix purple and turquoise but I do like this combination! More great ideas found on Style Estate.
Pops of Color
I found these vases for less than $10 at our local Marshalls and really love them. They look great on our fire mantle and I tend to put orange flowers in them. It is pretty easy to find this color and it doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg. Check out your local discount stores.
Powder Room
What a great idea! Loving the turquoise wallpaper in this powder room. Perfect for both men and women. Found on Decor Pad.
