Salma Hayek and her Mother talk Stage Fright and Parenting in HOLA!

I’ve been a fan of the gorgeous Salma Hayek for many years now!  She came to Hollywood with limited fluency in English, and dyslexia but just made things happen!  I love that type of grit and determination!  This month, in celebration of all mother’s, Salma and her mother are HOLA! USA’s May cover stars.  We have some clips and quotes from both Salma and her mom where they talk about acting and stardom. This marks the mother/daughter duo’s first cover together for a special Mother’s Day issue, where Salma talks about a surprising fear, what actually made her want to be an actress, and her take on motherhood. And, Diana talks about how she always knew her daughter would be something big!

QUOTES from the ladies:

Salma’s surprising fear:

“I suffer from stage fright. No one would know it, but I get it really, really bad. If you take the camera away and put me in front of an audience, I just die. Once I get onto stage, you can’t tell. But then I can’t do anything else the rest of the day because I’m so exhausted.”

Willy Wonka’s world made her fall in love with film:

I went to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and it wasn’t that I said, “I want to be an actress,” but rather, “There is a world where anything is possible. There can be a chocolate river. There are no limitations.” And that’s how I fell in love with film.

Diana on Salma:

“I always knew that Salmita would be something big in her life because of her personality, her way of always working for what she wants, but she surprises me. She continues to surprise me more and more. There was one thing that I wanted: that was for Salma to be free to grow up and do whatever she wanted.”

Salma’s take on motherhood:

“Feeling responsible helps you develop as a human being…You learn a lot about yourself when you do something for someone else.”
