Fun Summer Ideas for Families-On-The-Go

Summer is here!  We officially kicked off summer break last Friday night with a game of volleyball between some moms at school and our respective kids!  And let me tell you, the moms were pretty darn serious about winning!  It was hysterical! Some of the activities our family enjoys over the summer break include hiking, nature walks, spending time at the pool, trips to the beach, Newport Back Bay, Balboa Island, and mini-day trips.  What are some of the things your family likes to do over the summer?

One of the things about parenting that to be honest, did come learned the hard way, was that I need to always have snacks on hand.  You would think this would change as they get older, but kids just don’t tend to think that far ahead when heading out the door so I try to make sure I have some snacks with me.  We’ve had more than our share of hangry (hungry = angry) outbursts which are always related to someone being hungry!

One of the snacks we enjoy are Entenmann’s® Little Bites® Strawberry Yogurt Muffins that are not only a good source of calcium and vitamin D, but they come in perfectly portioned pouches ideal for snacking on-the-go no matter what time of day

  • With less than 200 calories per pouch, Little Bites® Strawberry Yogurt Muffins are a good source of calcium and vitamin D, and never contain high fructose corn syrup or trans-fat

A usual seasonal favorite, Entenmann’s® Little Bites® Strawberry Yogurt is back by popular demand and here to stay just in time for strawberry season! Ripe for the picking, these moist, delicious muffins are made with real strawberries and feature a delicious blend of fruit and creamy yogurt that is sure to keep strawberry-lovers of all ages smiling together!

Some ideas for staying on top of summer fun include:

Visit a State Park or Beach

Check out your local state beach or park this summer.  We are lucky that we live by Crystal Cove in Newport Beach and visit there quite often.  It is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy time with the family.  Here is a list of state parks found throughout the country.

Build a sandcastle

You can do what we do and build a drip sandcastle or get some buckets and create a masterpiece!

My kind of day! The kid and hubby are playing smash ball.

Bring some games to the beach or park

We’ve been playing Frisbee quite a bit at the beach.  It reminds me of our own childhood hanging at the beach playing Frisbee.  We also invested in some other games such as Smash Ball and a boogie board.  Our daughter is usually so beat after a day at the beach she goes right to bed at night!

Back Yard Fun

Recently we found a pretty inexpensive slip-and-slide at Target and set it up in our front yard.  This is a ton of fun for the kids and they even have double slides available!  Just be sure to give them a heads up that it’s best to slide like Superman would do it – front and not try to slide in like you would in baseball.  We learned this the hard way!
