Health Series :: “The Kegal Throne” Review

Welcome to my first post in a new health and beauty series where we research and test the latest technologies and treatments available. Last week I had a chance to try out the BTL EMSELLA at NEXMED Health and Body. Otherwise known as “The Kegal Throne” or as I call her “M” for short. This machine is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment for stress or urge urinary incontinence. For years now, I have to make sure I am close to a restroom whenever I go out due to my frequent bathroom trips. And when I drive up from Orange County to Los Angeles for work, more often than not, I have to stop at least once to go to the restroom. I always thought it was because I drink coffee and water in the morning, but after doing some research on this topic I realize I have a weak or “fatigued” bladder. Go figure!

We have all done this ourselves or have a friend who claims “don’t make me pee my pants” when laughing. Just last month at the CHOC Walk, my friends had to wait for me while I visited the restroom at least four times. Ugh! But enough about my issues, do you too, have bladder fatigue? Do you find you have to go to the restroom more often than you’d like?

Well, the BTL EMSELLA chair is here to help strengthen these muscles. FDA-approved for both men and women, the chair focuses on targeted tissue in the pelvic area, strengthening muscles and restoring the support of the pelvic organs. This is done by delivering thousands of contractions per session – in fact during a 28 minute session one will receive over 12,000 Kegal exercises. Something no-one could do on their own! You remain fully clothed and it treats the entire pelvic floor. When I found out what they did in the past to treat incontinence I was a tad shocked! This procedure is non-invasive and doesn’t hurt at all! You will feel the contractions but it isn’t uncomfortable. And your practitioner can work with you on the best level you are most comfortable with – though it is advised to do the highest level to get the maximum benefits.

Aging, childbirth and menopause can all lead to different degrees of incontinence. If you are looking for a solution – perhaps even your partner or husband is complaining about the number of times they have to get up during the night, then be sure to give Lynne Brownell, NP at NEXMED Health & Body in Orange County a call. She is offering a discount to our lovely Dandelion Women – just let her know you read about it here.

They recommend six treatments, spread out a couple days apart. I have tried it twice and have already seen a difference in the frequency of how often I need to use the restroom. And you know I am a fan of non-invasive, heal-from-within skin and body treatments whenever possible!

Stay tuned for my interview with Registered Nurse Practitioner and Lynne Brownell where we talk about what one can expect from these treatments and more about the technology behind it. To learn more go to NexMedBody.com. and find a location near you if you are not located in Southern California.
