Family :: Tis the Season for Some Downtime

    October 8, 2015 /

It seems like every mom I run into these days has a look of “oh, boy, the holidays are almost here!”  This time of year can be so hectic between shuffling the kids to hockey games, helping solve their quadratic equations and giving the little ones their baths, that you might skip doing the things that help keep you in a balanced and calm state. Why not take a walk with some friends?  Or head out to your favorite breakfast sans kids and read a book while enjoying a hot cup of coffee.  Or maybe catch up on some missed episodes – if not full seasons – of some your favorite shows. Did…

Interview with some Disney Dreamers and Innovators

    October 8, 2015 /

If I am feeling a little down I know if I take a local trip to Disneyland with my daughter it will immediately cheer me up.  There is something so magical about walking through the gates of Disneyland and it always takes me back to being a kid.  You can’t help but feel like a big kid again where the world was open wide in front of you.  What a magical thing that Walt Disney created and the spirit is continued with today’s Disney Dreamers and Innovators!     As part of the Tomorrowland Media Event we met with some Disney Dreamers including the Director of Tomorrowland, and the two…

The Important Role Pets Play in Our Family

    October 8, 2015 /

As long as I can remember my family has always, and I mean always had pets!  At one point in high school our family had this adorable (yet funky-looking black goldfish with big round eyes).   And about eleven cats and dogs combined.  That was a little extreme I know, but my parents had breed our white Standard Poodle with an Apricot Poodle and they had the cutest puppies!  It was not tough finding them homes that is for sure. Fast forward to my college years and my roommate had a boyfriend who had the sweetest Huskey whom he called “Bear”.  I thought that was the best name for a dog and vowed to name my future dog…

The Importance of Taking Care of Ourselves

    October 5, 2015 /

Just about any mom can tell you that raising kids, well-adjusted and happy kids, is a full-time and exhausting job but one that has so many benefits. The hug at the end of the night telling you you’re the best mom in the whole world to little giggles about a shared joke to your heart basically exploding with love for your kid are all things that keep us going. We want to do our best and take care of our family’s needs but many times we do it at the expense of our own. Lately, I have been taking some extra time out to refuel and re-energize myself so that…

Next weekend is the annual CHOC “Walk in the Park” event presented by the Disneyland Resort.  The Walk, which will be held the morning of Sunday, October 11, is the largest, most unique single pediatric walk event in the nation.
