Enter the “Hairy N’ Scary” Contest to WIN for your local Animal Shelter

    October 15, 2015 /

~~This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Albertsons Safeway. The opinions and text are all mine. We like to involve our pets in all of the holidays. From making sure they have some goodies from Santa to dressing them up for Halloween, we like to have some fun with our furry family! What about you? Do your pets let you dress them up? We like to dress up our cat, Buddy, anytime of the year really as he is usually game for some fun. We have put a top hat on him, pirate hat, a scarf that made him look oh, so dashing! Max is a…

    DIY: Scarecrow on a Stick

    October 14, 2015 /

My son and I love to do these types of crafts. The arms and legs can move into fun poses and it’s on a stick so you can ‘plant’ them everywhere. The scarecrow is a favorite for our fall decor. You can find him between apples and pumpkins or pretty fall leaves. I have a pattern ready for you to download, print and color. You can add googly eyes, yarn for hair – be creative!   Basic Scarecrow: You will need: 4 Brass Prong Paper File Fasteners card stock to print on scissors clear tape a stick markers, crayons, pencils Print out the Scarecrow template. I like to color it first and…

Planning Meals around Organic and Locally-Sourced Foods

    October 14, 2015 /

This post is sponsored by Foster Farms®, the opinions expressed are my own. Lately we have been trying to add locally-grown vegetables to our recipes and I have been making the trip to our local farm a couple times a month to check out their fresh produce.  I love that the strawberries are picked that day and the vegetables about every two days.  I remember my surprise when the zucchini still had the prickly hairs on them.       They offer a wide range of vegetables and fresh herbs that you can pick right there!  I think that is my daughter’s favorite part of the trip.  She’ll grab…

Knott’s Spooky Farm : Fun for the Whole Family!

    October 13, 2015 /

Image courtesy of Knott’s Berry Farm. Last weekend we had a chance to check out the new Knott’s Spooky Farm and loved every minute of it.  Going on every weekend for the month of October, Knott’s Spooky Farm is a daytime event and a non-scary celebration of cheer rather than fear with shows and activities all geared for kids ages 3-11. There are a ton of Halloween activities for kids throughout the park. Kids can take part in “Snoopy’s Costume Contest and Dance Party” and also visit the Camp Spooky Theatre to view “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown”, a new Halloween show where everyone will be singing and dancing in the…

Come meet Brad Bird, Director of Tomorrowland

    October 13, 2015 /

“Exploring what it means to be alive, that’s what storytelling is all about.”  ~ Brad Bird   You know when you meet someone and as you speak with them you are blown away with their creativity and insight into humanity? That somehow, their brains are working on a whole other level – kind of what it must of felt like to have meet Walt Disney!  Well, that is what I felt while talking with Brad Bird, the Director of Tomorrowland as part of the round table interviews we had at the Tomorrowland Disney Media Event September 21st.  You might have seen other movies he worked on such as The Incredibles (2004, Writer…

Interview with the Animator of Aladdin’s Genie Eric Goldberg

    October 11, 2015 /

“Seeing characters become larger than life always brings me joy.” ~ Eric Goldberg   One of my favorite parts of the Tomorrowland Media event a few weeks back was our meeting with Greg Goldberg, the Supervising Animator for Genie at the Disney Studios.  He has had a long career as animator, film director and voice actor. It was so wonderful hearing him talk about the process of creating the Genie and about Robin Williams.  You could tell how much he cared for Robin when he told stories about making the movie.  Here are some of our favorite parts of the interview.     Mr. Goldberg said that they tried several different styles for…
