Interview with National Geographic Photographer Annie Griffiths

    August 19, 2015 /

Today I had a chance to speak to National Geographic Photographer Annie Griffiths on a conference call along with other National Geographic Kids Insiders.  Annie has my dream job!  I am not kidding!  I remember watching the movie Bridges of Madison County years ago and thought that Clint Eastwood’s character had about the best job as he played a traveling National Geographic Photographer.  It seem so magical traveling from place to place documenting what you see with photographs!     Well, Annie has this dream job!  She has been to over 150 countries, founded The Ripple Effect Images, a nonprofit that helps poor women and also documents programs around the world that empower women and girls.  She…

Dwell :: House Tour in Orange County

    August 18, 2015 /

We had a chance to take a tour of the lovely Justine’s home.  She and her family moved into this neighborhood about two years ago but says she is still looking to do more things in the house.  I think it looks fabulous and love all the little touches that just say home.  You can tell a lot of thought went into the design of the home while keeping in mind her two adorable twins and husband.  Actually, she said her husband, Mike, had some input into the home décor, like the cool Buddha statue in the living room and superhero books in their new built-in, but most of the design comes…

Dinotrux :: A Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television Series Review   Dinotrux Premiere: My boys and I attended a prescreening of Netflix and DreamWorks Animation’s new animated television series Dinotrux this week. Dinotrux is based on the award-winning series of children’s books written by Chris Gall. Dinotrux takes place in the Mechazoic Era inhabited by half dinosaur and half construction vehicles. The main character is Ty-Rux, a friendly T-Trux who is a combination Tyrannosaurus Rex and megatron excavator. Ty-Rux has to leave his home after it is destroyed by a volcanic eruption. He befriends Revvit, a Reptool with a tape measure tongue. Together they work to build a new home…

Tech :: The SanDisk Card Meets All Your Storage Needs

    August 15, 2015 /

Don’t you hate when your devices aren’t working the way they should?  I get so frustrated sometimes but I have found over the years that when my computer “acts up” it is usually because it is at full storage capacity.   Recently, I heard about the SanDisk products that offer anything from professional-grade camera memory to point-and-shoot SD cards to microSD cards. I like that you can store your videos on the go and don’t have to worry about reaching your capacity on your devices!   The SanDisk SD cards are perfect for students who have a ton of information they need to save and would make a great gift if your kids are heading off…

Latest & Greatest :: Numb Chucks : Kung Fu App

    August 14, 2015 /

Does your family like quirky shows?  Have you heard of Numb Chucks?  It originated in Canada on YTV and premiered on January 7, 2014. The show is targeted at 6-11 year olds, and airs in Canada and on Cartoon Networks’ Boomerang in the US. An animated comedy series, Numb Chucks focuses on two well-intentioned but incompetent woodchucks, Dillweed and Fungus, who try to use kung fu to protect their hometown from criminals.  My daughter says her favorite character is Master Sensei because he is so funny.  We tend to enjoy the more quirky shows like PBS Kids ODD SQUAD and Cartoon Networks The Amazing World of Gumball.     This crazy duo, Dillweed…

Back to School with PBS Kids and Whole Foods Market :: Review & Giveaway

    August 14, 2015 /

Curious George is one of our favorite shows! We love reading the Curious George books and spent many a day watching him on PBS Kids.  On August 17, Curious George is back to his inquisitive ways with the television premiere of CURIOUS GEORGE 3: BACK TO THE JUNGLE. In this adventure-filled feature-length movie, Curious George takes a trip to space but crash-lands in the jungles of Africa, leading to an unforgettable journey with new animal friends. Featuring the voice talents of Angela Bassett and John Goodman, with music by the Plain White T’s, BACK TO THE JUNGLE is a fun-filled journey that everyone in the family will enjoy.  I secretly think my husband loves him more than…
