Health :: Finding the Fountain of Youth

    July 26, 2015 /

A few weeks back I was having lunch with a good friend and she was talking about how she was trying to get her son to drink less soda. He was having some health issues and I mentioned to her about a book that I was required to read in my Masters in Human Nutrition program called Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, and suggested that he try to replace a soda a day with more water – replace one soda can with one more glass of water.  This really is one of the best health books you can read concerning your health and I can’t say enough of how it…

    Create an Art Journal

    July 26, 2015 /

I love how coloring is bringing so much joy to people. From children to grown ups. Everyone has the potential to be creative. To color is a stress reliever. You pick colors that make you happy and without thinking you just add color with markers or pencils or even paint to a picture that you like. Fun right? In my world I am always coloring and drawing. I cannot imagine a day without artmaking, a day without color. This is how I unwind and de-stress. I often end my day with drawing, coloring and painting in my art journal. Have fun with this page! Use any materials you like,…

5 Ways to Enjoy Venice Like a Local

    July 25, 2015 /

There is no place in the world quite like Venice. It is magical and beautiful, yet can get extremely crowded and chaotic. If someone only visits for a day or two and only stays in the most crowded areas, they may never feel the true charm of the city that exists beyond the “tourist zone.” Here are 5 Ways to Enjoy Venice Like a Local: 1. Get Out Early In the early morning, before the hoards of cruise ship tourists arrive, Venice is at its local best. Boats delivering their goods weave through the canals, kids walk or scooter to school, and the scents of freshly-baked croissants  fill the streets.…

The Special Olympics World Games July 25-August 2

    July 24, 2015 /

“[Eunice Kennedy Shriver] will be remembered … as an extraordinary woman who, as much as anyone, taught our nation – and our world – that no physical or mental barrier can restrain the power of the human spirit. ”                             ~U.S. President Barack Obama  History of the Special Olympics: I am always amazing how it can take one person to care about a situation and how many lives they can affect when the go after creating good! It all began in the 1950s and early 1960s, when Eunice Kennedy Shriver saw how unjustly and unfairly people with intellectual disabilities were treated. She also saw that many children with intellectual disabilities didn’t even have a place to play.…

Here’s To All The Sensitive Types

    July 23, 2015 /

Fear itself made her daring.    ~ Ovid   As far back as I can remember I have not been a fan of large crowds.  When I was younger I tended to have a few close friends and steered away from being in large group settings.  But in high school, I went go outside my comfort zone and tried out for the cheerleading squad.  But this was somehow different.  I was in front of people that I didn’t really see.  The crowds were just a blur while I was having fun with my friends being a goofy kid! Flash forward through the years and I am seeing a pattern of avoidance.  Avoiding large group…

Money Saving Tips for Family Trips

    July 23, 2015 /

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #Tips4Trips #CollectiveBias   One of the nice things about having one child is we don’t have to worry about any sibling arguing.  Don’t get me wrong, she has a couple close friends that she has grown up with that after  playing together for awhile you will hear some type of bickering and nit-picking.  But traveling with her can be challenging in it’s own right because she looks to us to entertain her.  We are planning on taking a trip up the coast this coming fall break (our summer break ended this week) and…
