Jamberry Nails: Fabulous Nails Without the Salon Price

    December 12, 2014 /

For the longest time I never wore anything on my nails. Being a full time teacher and mom to three little girls, all under the age of 6, I never had time to do my nails. I think I was able to sneak away to the nail salon once every six months. I would splurge on a pedicure but stay away from the manicure. Polish just never lasted on my nails. I would get so frustrated when I looked down and my polish was smudged immediately after leaving the salon or chipped one day later, so I just gave up. Then Jamberry came into my life! I started by…

    Tips to Simplify the Holidays

    December 12, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Flickr   The millennial generation has grown up and many have families of their own who will be celebrating the holidays. PBS KIDS tapped into the millennial parent mindset with the Millennial Parent Holiday Wishes Survey and found that these young parents don’t want a high-paced, tech-overloaded holiday this year, but instead a simpler season with less shopping and more family fun.   The survey found that 82% crave more family time and 80% want to spend more time playing with their kids this holiday season. Conversely, many of these younger parents want to dial back gift prep and shopping, with 37% saying they would like…

The All Hail King Julien Series is Coming to Netflix December 19th!

    December 11, 2014 /

Get ready to dance — on Dec. 19 the first five episodes of All Hail King Julien, a totally original, totally hilarious and totally insane new series, will arrive on Netflix. A favorite character from the Madagascar franchise, King Julien will take on the jungle’s craziest adventures in the new comedy series, along with his loyal sidekicks Maurice and Mort plus a whole new cast of colorful animals.  We love this whole Madagascar crew and just recently saw The Penguins of Madagascar.  These movies always have such fun music in them that you can’t help but dance along with them! Can’t wait for Dec. 19? Gear up for the…

Best Holiday Gifts for Your Furry Family

    December 9, 2014 /

As many of you know, we have a 110+ German Shepherd mix that we adopted last summer from the German Shepherd Rescue Group of Orange County.  Max,  his eight brothers and sisters and mom, were found stranded in a Ford Dealership parking lot and were taken in by this wonderful group and provided foster homes until they all got adopted.  It has been quite the journey with Max as I have never had a dog so enjoy his toys, bones and treats like he does!  Never mind that he thinks he is the second child and demands, yes demands attention 24/7.    He knows that sometimes when I come…

Parenting :: Make Music a Daily Activity for Children

    December 8, 2014 /

Make Music a Daily Activity for Children Music has played an important role in our culture for so long that musicality is part of our anthropological and genetic history. Ethnomusicology is the study of folk music throughout time and it relates to the way we pass down music from generation to generation. There is a large body of evidence that says that, for children, music stimulates brain processes that enhance math and language skills, increase motor coordination and create bonding moments between parent and child. Most importantly, teaching music to children is fun.   Live vs. Electronic Musicians and music educators have long debated the benefits of live versus…

What’s Hot in Southern California :: Knott’s Merry Farm

    December 5, 2014 /

Our family had a chance to check out Knott’s Merry Farm this month and it reminded me of how much fun Knott’s is during the holiday season.  The entire theme park is decorated in Christmas cheer and you can’t help but noticing all the little additions throughout the park.  It really does get you in the spirit of the holidays!  Plus they are known for all of their amazing rides and my daughter absolutely loves roller coasters so we could be found running from ride to ride throughout the park.  I recommend to do this before you eat lots of sweets!  Note to self for next time!     The largest Christmas Tree…
