Reflections :: Owning our Emotional Lives

    October 24, 2013 /

Recently I shared the following quote by Barbara Stevens Sullivan on Facebook: “Our resistance to a feminine orientation is tremendous. We are taught in every setting that we should be in control of our lives and that our lives will proceed in positive directions if we control them properly. The consequence of this attitude is not an increasingly widespread incidence of happiness, it is rather a situation in which people feel guilty about their depression and despair, exacerbating their pain by struggling against the legitimate suffering that life involves and that, when submitted to, ultimately…

    October 23, 2013 /

We are planning on having some friends and family over to our place with the upcoming holidays and I wanted to find some unique centerpiece ideas that could be used for Halloween and Thanksgiving.  Having a colorful centerpiece really does set the mood and shows you took some care to make the table setting look extra special! And aren’t the holidays about making those you love around you feel special.  I absolutely love all of these ideas and there is even a tutorial from Inspired By Charm who walks you through how to make a gorgeous centerpiece.  Have fun!         Shabby Chic Display: I am in love with these…

Recipes :: Delicious Sunday Breakfast Ideas

    October 20, 2013 /

Breakfast just might be my favorite meal of the day and we serve breakfast for dinner at least once a week at our house.  Going out to eat breakfast on Sundays was a big part of my childhood. There was a family-owned restaurant up the street from where we lived and we frequented their restaurant quite often. But my dad was famous for making his grits and sausages.  I love grits to this day and always order a side of them if they are served at the restaurant. With the holidays coming up, I want to try some new recipes since we tend to have friends and family over for brunch. …

Did you know that today, October 20th is World Osteoporosis Day?  In support of spreading the news about this important issue – especially for women – I am happy to tell you about a new calcium supplement that Adora has recently released.  The supplement comes in Premium All Natural Milk & Dark Chocolate and the secret Adora® formula was developed by Thompson Brands, a chocolatier with a rich, celebrated heritage since 1879.  I had a chance to taste test the calcium supplements and they are tasty!  I usually eat a piece of dark chocolate every day as it is rich in antioxidants – so the addition of…
