Culture :: The Titanic and Bodies Exhibition Tickets Giveaway

    July 31, 2013 /

Next week, my daughter and I are going to tour the Premier Exhibitions, Titanic: The Experience and Bodies: The Exhibition in Buena Park where the former Movieland Wax Museum use to be. I have always been fascinated by the stories surrounding RMS Titanic and loved the movie when it came out years ago.  At the moment, my daughter’s favorite book is Dr. Seuss’s Inside Your Outside which talks about how the body works so I think she will enjoy the Bodies Exhibition.  I am told the two exhibitions are appropriate for ages seven on up.  This would be a great activity to do with the kids while they are on summer break…

Latest & Greatest :: Disney PLANES: Storybook Deluxe

    July 31, 2013 /

Our family has watched both the Cars movies no less than twenty times each!  I just love the characters and storyline in both films.  The Cars movies are Disney and Pixar at their best!  So it is with great excitement we had an opportunity to preview the new Disney Digital Books PLANES app.  First flying onto the scene in Disney’s Cars, Dusty Crophopper is back in an all-new storybook deluxe app from Disney Publishing! The Disney “Planes: Storybook Deluxe” app takes readers to new heights as they relive the film through 41 story screens, read-along text and full narration that re-retells the story of the feature film.     The first…

Garden :: DIY Succulent Gift Ideas

    July 30, 2013 /

Succulents are one of my absolute favorite types of plants because they take minimal care and I love how they will surprise you with their infrequent blooms.  There are so many interesting ways to use them as accents in your garden or indoors as a table accent.  And they are perfect to give as gifts.  It is a pretty inexpensive yet unique present to give to the plant lover, friend or your child’s schoolteacher.  We found some unique DIY ideas you can do with the kids!  Some are large projects and would be more costly as you need several plants and others would take just one succulent.  The skies the limit with…

Recipe :: Fig and Goat Cheese Appetizers

    July 29, 2013 /

Ficus carica, known to us as the common fig, originated in northern Asia Minor. Spaniards brought the fig to America in 1520.  Sumerian stone tablets dating back to 2500 B.C. record the usage of figs. Cooked figs were used as sweeteners in lieu of sugar in historical times, and this usage still continues today in North Africa and the Middle East.  Figs are high in potassium, iron, fiber and plant calcium, figs are also used for medicinal purposes as a diuretic and laxative. The fig tree can live as long as 100 years and grow to 100 feet tall, although domestic trees are kept pruned. (Source: About.com).     Figs…

Make The Call: Maximize your home phone with VTech

    July 28, 2013 /

There are many things I like about my iPhone.  I don’t think I am far from it most hours of day – I even have it next to my nightstand. Sad, but true!  Last year, my husband and I decided to stop using our landline since we had the iPhones, but I never felt comfortable without having a phone-phone.  Plus, there have been many-a-time that I forgot to charge it and wished I had another phone to use.  It has been extremely frustrating when the phone would go dead while on an important call and I would sit there waiting while my iPhone recharged hoping the person would be available when I called…

Play :: Tips for Pool Safety

    July 27, 2013 /

Cooling off This Summer by the Pool   It’s summertime, which for kids is paradise. Summer vacation, freeze pops, and all the adventures you can squeeze in before dinner. It also means it’s hot outside – sometimes too hot. While the kiddos usually don’t mind running about till they drip like the half-melted popsicle clutched in their sticky little hands, sometimes it gets too hot outside to have any fun. Instead of huddling next to the air conditioner, the best way to beat the summer heat is to load up the floaties and noodles and head to the swimming pool. Swimming pools are fantastic for a number of…
