WILD ALASKA LIVE is part of PBS “Summer of Adventure” and Premieres July 23rd!

    July 21, 2017 /

Teams for PBS and the BBC – including Emmy Award®-winning hosts Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt – make their way to Alaska this week for the live, three-night, multi-platform natural-history adventure that premieres July 23 at 8:00 PM ET, with new episodes on July 26 and 30 at 8:00 PM ET.   My mother and I actually lived in Alaska for about a year when I was really little!  She says it is one of the most beautiful places she has ever lived and I have been itching to go back there for a visit someday!  But in the meantime, I am excited to catch WILD ALASKA LIVE this weekend and watch The Kratt…

The Importance of Finding “Down Time”

    July 20, 2017 /

#MomSneak. America has spoken: 97% of moms say that they had more time for themselves before motherhood, and now, three-quarters (71%) of moms admit to sneaking in TV “me-time” while juggling a busy schedule, with some even hiding from their kids for just a moment of peace. With moms doing it anywhere and everywhere in the neighborhood when the kids aren’t around, sneaking is the new bingeing. Luckily, my husband is pretty good about knowing when I need a little alone downtime and let’s me go catch a show or two with no distractions. He’ll usually take our daughter to the pool while I catch a new movie or show on…

Interviews with the Filmmakers and Stars of Valerian And The City of a Thousand Planets

    July 20, 2017 /

Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets is out in theaters this Friday July 21st and I can’t wait to hear what you think about it! This visually spectacular new adventure film from Luc Besson, the legendary director of The Professional, The Fifth Element and Lucy, is based on the ground-breaking comic book series which inspired a generation of artists, writers and filmmakers. The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies of all time so when I heard I would have a chance to meet my favorite director of all time, Luc Besson, courtesy of STX Entertainment,  I do believe you might have heard my yelps of…

4 Fascinating Places to Experience Taiwanese Culture in Taipei

    July 17, 2017 /

Written by Kaitlin Murray Taiwan is a country of vibrant colored temples, kind people, and delicious street food. We spent a week in Taipei and were so amazed by the modern and efficient city, the historic sights and temples, and all of the beautiful aspects of Taiwanese culture. We realized it is a perfect blend of Japanese and Chinese cultures, creating a great atmosphere and feeling for first time travelers to Asia. Here are the best places to visit to experience this unique culture! Longshan Temple The brightly colored temple in the Wanhua District of Taipei is a Buddhist temple where tourists can come to experience the rituals and ceremonies…

Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Cilantro Lime Slaw

    July 13, 2017 /

Nothing quite says summer like shrimp tacos while sipping on an icy cold beer if you so please!  We found this delicious recipe on Pinch of Yum who brought it back from a trip she took to California.  We do know how to eat our tacos out here that is for sure and you’ll find so many different types of tacos here in SoCal! We added a little twist (avocado to the sauce and changed out some spices) but overall you don’t need to do much with this recipe – it really is as good as it looks!  The spices mix together so well and it has such an…

    Worlds Best Marinara Sauce!

    July 11, 2017 /

You know some nights you just crave pasta?!  Well, last night was one of those nights and we went on a search to try out a new marinara sauce.  We had picked up some yummy homemade meatballs at our local Italian deli (I highly advise to do this to cut down on time in the kitchen) and found a delicious recipe on All Recipes.   We always like to add our own spin on recipes – you know add more garlic or olive oil.  But this recipe is pretty right on so we followed it minus the white wine.  The whole family really liked it – even our daughter whose…
