Inspirational Mom :: Sheila Bernus Dowd of Clever Girls
I heard about Clever Girls last year when I entered the world of mom blogging which really was a whole new world for me to learn about. This past year I have been visiting their site and enjoying the information they provide for mom bloggers. Clever Girls is a social media agency offering content marketing and native advertising at scale and had over 70 Million unique visitors last month! Wow! I love how this company was created by a group of women providing other moms a way to help run their own blogging business. This past month I learned about the journey of Sheila Bernus Dowd, one of the cofounders of Clever Girls,…

Recipes :: Fall Paleo (Gluten-Free) Dishes
For Mother’s Day this year my husband gave me the book The Paleoista by Nell Stephenson that changed my life and my body. For reasons I will go into in my health post this week, I was at a real down point with my health (and up with the pounds) that I was willing to try just about anything to feel and look better! Fast forward a few months and I have lost 17 pounds, can finally fit into my wardrobe again and gave my bigger clothes to The Salvation Army as I figured I wouldn’t ever need them again if I stick to this way of eating. It was the easiest…

Instagram of the Week :: The Fascinating Ammonite Fossil
Years ago I use to love to look at design magazines to no end. We just did a major de-cluttering in our garage and I had at least two bookcase shelves filled with these décor magazines (from 2004). Sitting on the couch, with a new magazine or Modern Home decor book was like heaven and I use to relish that time. Fast forward to the present, and I am lucky to find time to sit down much less with a magazine! You know how motherhood can be at times – though I wouldn’t change a thing. When I would look through these home décor magazines – mostly Living, Etc. (from the U.K), Elle Décor,…

Fashion :: Cool Fall Looks for Moms
Fall officially started last week and we finally have some cooler weather here in southern California! Finally time to break out the boots and coats – well, maybe not coats quite yet, but my sweaters are ready to be worn. If you are like most moms, we do like to look stylish, but don’ have as much time to spend on fashion as we did pre-kids. Or maybe you are one of those moms who can pull it together in no time at all and look super fabulous all the time! Sadly, I am not one of those moms and need a little help in knowing what works together…

DIY :: Unique Pumpkin Decorating Ideas
Have I told you all how much I love this time of year? Yes, probably in every post this past week or two! We even started decorating for Halloween about two weeks ago. Much to the annoyance of my husband, but we (mainly me, but my daughter gets into it as well) couldn’t reframe from pulling out the decorations from the garage and started decorating early! This week I wanted to start working on our pumpkins, but wanted to try out some unique DIY ideas and boy did we find some great non-carving pumpkin ideas. I absolutely love the colorful pumpkins from the blog Whatever and we are heading off to the craft store…

Reflections :: Imagination as Practice
Depth psychologists believe and even study something called the imaginal realm. The imaginal realm exists in every one of us. It communicates through symbols. It is an active, healthy part of human relating. Ever get a song stuck in your head, or see an image on your mind screen when someone is telling you a story? Those are symbols, the mouthpiece of the imaginal realm. The imaginal realm is precisely the way our intuition, our inner mysterious nature that infuses us with power and spark, reverence and awe, speaks. Neuroscience calls it right hempisphere brain functioning: intuition, inner guidance, creativity, empathy. I call it Soul. As I continue…
