Creating Childhood Memories – Invest in Experiences, Not Things

    June 20, 2015 /

What do you remember most about your childhood? What experiences stand out the most? Have you ever seen, heard, smelled, or felt something as an adult that brought you back in time – a memory so vivid that you could swear you were a child again, if only for an instant? For me, the fondest and most vivid memories of my childhood were created during years of camping trips with my family. I can remember in great detail the excitement of packing up the van and trailer, my dad, free from his work clothes and stress, laughing and joking as he drove, and the sounds of “Take Me Home,…

Summer Fun :: Nature Day Camp 101

    June 20, 2015 /

Summer is here and finding things to do with the kids can be trying sometimes.  That is why we are creating a Summer Fun Series where we make suggestions for activities to do with the kids that won’t cost an arm and a leg! Last week we hosted a Nature Day Camp for my daughter and some of her pals. It was a fun day and one that didn’t take a ton of planning and/or money!  Stuck On You was kind enough to sponsor this fun day and provided the cool messenger bag, postcards and other goodies for the kids.  These bags were perfect on our walks through the park and they used them to store…

Create Lasting Memories with the GoPro HERO + LCD

    June 17, 2015 /

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. One of my absolute favorite gifts we have received was the GoPro HERO camera from my in-laws a few years back for the holidays.  I am not kidding when I say it is one of the best gifts we have received as I love to capture our family’s adventures on film and video.  We brought it down to the pool and we have some great videos of my daughter doing flips off the side of the pool (with bated breath from good ‘ol mom) and pretending she is a mermaid underwater.  …

    Mini Dandelion Layla Karnes

    June 15, 2015 /

My father-in-law told me about this remarkable young girl, Layla Karnes, who dreams of becoming a champion figure skater.  He heard about Layla from his physician, Dr. William Karnes, who happens to be her number one fan (shared with mom) and dad. I was so impressed with her story and Olympic dreams that I was inspired to create mini dandelions!  I want to feature children who giving back and inspiring others by the work they are doing and life they are living! Layla has been skating since she was three years old and fell in love with the sport the very first time she want with her parents.  She trains hard every day and encourages other kids to go after…

The Perfect Gift for Father’s Day!

    June 15, 2015 /

Last week my daughter’s teacher gave this adorable succulent gift to the volunteer’s that helped out this year.  She had  all the children sign the glass vase with their names. I thought this would make the perfect Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparent’s Day and yes, Teacher Appreciation Day gift!  For Father’s Day – you can have your kids write Happy Father’s Day and then have them sign it.  Or whatever strikes your fancy!  A favorite quote perhaps? This gift really touched my heart and I know that I will treasure it always!  Right now it is sitting next to my computer. She said she used succulent’s from her mother’s garden and made about 20 of them.  Personalized gifts…
