7 Crafts Made from Nature
Summer is about sleeping in (we should tell our kids it is a summer rule: sleeping in), lazy days by the pool or beach, popsicles and lots of sunscreen. Here are some fun ideas to help spend your summer days making some nature crafts. Enjoy! Dipped in Gold: Aren’t these just gorgeous? I think you could use just about any type of kid-friendly paints. These would look pretty on display in a wooden bowl! Found on: Blabla Kids It’s a Hoot: My new favorite site Fireflies and Mud Pies is so cute – she has a ton of great ideas like this fun owl! 5 Ways To Keep Kids Busy This Summer
We all look forward to summer vacation. For a little while we are free from loading backpacks, rushing out to beat the school bell, and homework. And as much fun as we know we’re going to have, we all know our children will tell us at least once how bored they are. I know I’ll hear it – I often do. But I have started preparing myself for those occasions and keep things on my bookshelf that I can pass off to the kids when they can’t find something fun on their own. I’m well stocked with Usborne sticker books, wipe-clean flash cards, and learn-to-draw books. Here are a…

Wellness :: One Woman’s Story
I have struggled with my weight ever since I was little. I’ve been on every diet from Weight Watchers to Jenny Craig. I even went as far as getting lap-band surgery eight years ago. I did manage to lose around 140+ pounds in about eight months. I was then blessed with the pregnancy of my first and only child and ended up gaining almost all the weight back during my pregnancy. A big realization happened a little over 3 months ago and I decided it was time to turn my life around and work on myself and my weight again. I realized I needed to start taking better…

Disney Story Central is a Great Resource for Summer Reading
We are big fans of anything Disney! I just love how Walt Disney had a dream and vision and created one of the most amazing amusement parks and companies ever! At a conference in April I heard about the upcoming Walt Disney four-hour documentary that’s part of PBS’ American Experience series that will air September 14 and 15 and will talk about the man and his extraordinary vision. At this event, I heard how he “pitched” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to his illustrators over a two hour period by acting out each scene because he needed to have them on board to create this movie! I have enjoyed all of…
