One of My Favorite Restaurants in the World :: The Palace Grill

    November 24, 2013 /

One of my favorite places in the world is Santa Barbara, California.  There are many reasons why I love this city and dream of someday moving up there to retire.  It is centered right alongside the coast and even Oprah purchased a house there (an estate I should say).  My husband went to college in Santa Barbara and when we were deciding where we wanted to get married he recommended Santa Barbara.  Luckily for me, he knew what place to stay at, where to get married (the Santa Barbara Courthouse), and even knew where he wanted to have our wedding reception at.  He raved about a place called  The Palace which…

Christmas Travel Ideas that Your Family Can Experience Together

    November 23, 2013 /

Sometimes the gift of experience is better for your kids than material things they will use once or twice. Instead of spending money on expensive toys this holiday, put the money toward a family vacation.   Australia:     Photo by Hai Linh Truong via Wikimedia Commons Looking to enjoy summer weather in the winter on what many might consider an once-in-a-lifetime trip? Then think about booking a trip to the land down under— Australia. Because Australia is located in the southern hemisphere, it is enjoying its summer in December. So you can hit some of Sydney’s beaches or take your kids to look for fairy penguins on…

Fashion :: Winter Hat Trends 2013

    November 23, 2013 /

I love hats!  I know I mentioned that I love coats and boots in several of my posts… but I am seeing more and more hats being worn by both men and women and I love it!  My husband on the other hand, is not a big fan of seeing men wearing Fedora hats and thinks they look better on women than men, but I personally say bring back the days of women and men wearing stylish hats.   Disneyland even makes some cute fedora hats and I purchased one on our last trip because I forgot to bring one to the park.  I love the contrast polka dots and stripes…

Bing Smart Search Helps Me Start a New Project!

    November 22, 2013 /

Most moms are always on the lookout for ways to save time (and money).  I am constantly checking out the Internet to get ideas for posts for my sites, new recipes (the family is sick of my ten recipes), and fashion tips.  Sometimes, it will just take a picture or short post about something I find interesting that then triggers the creative juices!  Recently, I discovered Bing Smart Search on Windows on our new laptop which came with the new 8.1 operating windows. As part of the Linquia community, I was asked to participate in this Bing campaign and see how well it works. So off I went in search…

Reiki: Let the Beauty We Love Be What We Do

    November 21, 2013 /

Melissa and I chatted about it and decided this post would be about Reiki and its benefits.  I practice Reiki and have for close to fifteen years, after an aunt introduced it to me at the hospital where she worked.  Staff were being trained to use it on patients in the oncology unit.  At that time in my life I was deeply in need of answers, stress management, a guide, anything!  All these years later I now provide Reiki Consulting. I want to tell you all about it, but before I get to that part, it is really important to me to explain why I think Reiki works.  …

The Latest & Greatest :: Travels with Gannon & Wyatt

    November 20, 2013 /

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness,” ~ Mark Twain (1835-1910), author of Tom Sawyer, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.   It is funny, I was just thinking the other day about how my travels after college really helped open my eyes to the ways of the world.  I grew up in Orange County, California and went off to college in Northern Califronia, but it wasn’t until I packed my bags and lived abroad for three years that I started to see the world and myself differently.  Traveling was the best thing I could have done to add to my education.  I still love to travel and look forward…
