    Blueberry and Lemon Pancakes

    February 4, 2020 /

Recently I picked up a 1953 edition of The Joy of Cooking at a local estate sale. I love that it is so well-loved and that the previous owner (a Norwegian woman) wrote notes throughout and added tabs of her favorite recipes. I’m trying to tap into Julia Child and attempt various recipes from this tried-and-true recipe book! Melissa’s Produce sent me some of their delicious strawberries, blueberries and raspberries along with ready-made crepes and dessert sauces. For Valentine’s Day why not serve some pipping hot blueberry pancakes and the gang can add the dessert sauce of their choice! Don’t forget to have some Grade A maple syrup on hand…

Brown Butter & Lemon Brussels Sprouts

    January 23, 2020 /

These days I’ve been on the hunt for really simple dishes that I can put together in no time flat. I try to have the family “eat the rainbow” and these petite purple Brussels sprouts from Melissa’s Produce are too darn cute – and tasty! They look even gorgeous in person and would add some color to any dish! This brown butter lemon recipe is amazing and literally took me five minutes to put together. Health Benefits Brussels sprouts boast high levels of many nutrients and have been linked to several health benefits. Brussels Sprouts are really high in Vitamin C which is so important, especially around flu season. They…

Grape Salad :: The Perfect Potluck Dish

    July 9, 2019 /

We received some yummy red and green muscato grapes from Melissa’s Produce this week and I searched for a recipe that called for grapes and found the perfect potluck dish ever… The Grape Salad. If you are from the Midwest you probably know all about this delicious and creamy grape salad dish! And after trying it, I can say that us folks on the West Coast have been missing out – big time. With a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, vanilla bean extract with a sprinkle of brown sugar and pecans – this is basically a cheesecake fruit salad. It’s the perfect potluck dish or pool party treat.…

Recipe :: Golden Beet & Tomato Salad with Goat Cheese

    April 19, 2019 /

When people ask me about what types of diets I recommend and which side of the fence I fall on, whether I am pro-vegetarian or pro-Paleo diet, I always tell them to listen to their body.  Truly, your body will tell you when a food is working for you or not.  And if you find you are craving a type of food that ends up making you feel sluggish, bloated or just overall bad, it probably means you are allergic to it.  Our bodies, if unbalanced, will crave the very food that we are allergic to.  Go figure!   This is the case when you have a bad reaction to a…

    February 14, 2019 /

You might have noticed that Brussels sprouts are listed on most trendy restaurant menus these days. Nathan Turner’s Italian Cheesy Pull-apart Bread Recipe

    December 4, 2018 /

Last weekend I had a chance to meet home decorator, cook and author at the Rejuvenation Costa Mesa Grand Opening party.  I just had to get his book because I like to support authors and also because the recipes inside look divine.  And I am hear to tell you after taking one look through, my husband and I just had to try his Italian cheesy pull-apart sourdough bread recipe because it was just jumping out of the page.  This would be a fantastic party dish.  What is better than pulling out a hot loaf of fresh sourdough bread stuffed with fresh herbs, three kinds of cheeses and butter AND…
