Nutrition :: Eggs offer a powerhouse of nutrition for the entire family

    June 8, 2017 /

Summer is so close we can taste it! And while “summer school” often gets a bad rap, Nellie’s Free Range Eggs wants parents and kids to get into the kitchen and prepare delicious egg-centric recipes during its own “Nellie’s Summer School” this June.   If you’re not already familiar, Nellie’s is committed to providing better lives for hens, which means better eggs for you and your family! Coming from the first Certified Humane® farm in the country, Nellie’s girls (aka hens) are never caged and have as much, or as little, access to outside as they want.   You can read more about the company, their humane practices and differences…

Holiday Baking Made Easy with Krusteaz Cookie Mixes

    December 14, 2016 /

I don’t know about you but this year the holiday’s really snuck up on me!  We finally got our tree this weekend and put out the rest of the decorations.  Keep in mind I am usually the first one on the block come day after Thanksgiving (I get too excited) so I am a little behind for me.  But I’m finally getting into the swing of things (good thing since Christmas will be here before we know it!). Part of our family’s traditions include baking cookies for family, neighbor’s and teachers.   We tend to bake a couple rounds of holiday cookies and our first batches were made with Krusteaz…

    Celebrating Families this Holiday Season

    November 21, 2015 /

Some of you might know about our family’s difficulty conceiving years ago and were told that the only way I would get pregnant was if I went through months of fertility drugs and artificial insemination due to hormonal issues I was having at the time. Since my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age  (48), I wasn’t too keen on disrupting my hormones with drugs.  Hearing those words in the doctors office was very painful and I remember feeling like I was somehow failing – myself and my husband. I think feeling this way is pretty normal when you are told you cannot have a child naturally and…

Have you had a chance to check out PBS’s A Chef‘s Life, the character-driven docu-series that takes viewers inside the life and kitchen of Chef Vivian Howard and her two restaurants located in the low country of eastern North Carolina?  She offers delicious recipes and I love their lifestyle.  Can I go live on a farm somewhere too?! As a mother of twins, Vivian knows how to create good food on the go that is both quick and fun to make with her children.  Check out these two delicious and simple recipes I am sure your kids will love! Meet Vivian Howard from “A Chef’s Life”

    October 20, 2015 /

Have you ever dreamed of selling everything and moving to a slower-paced town?  I have to be honest, we have entertained that idea a couple times!  It always gets back to what type of work would we do!  I’d love to have a farm where we grow our own food – but let’s be realistic here, I don’t know if I am cut out for that.  But one woman, Chef Vivian Howard surely is!  I love her story and think you will too – along with the tasty okra recipe she shared with us! PBS’s A Chef’s Life, the character-driven docu-series that takes viewers inside the life and kitchen of Chef Vivian Howard and her two restaurants…

Recipes :: Quick & Simple July Fourth Treats

    June 28, 2015 /

A Patriotic Ice Cream Sandwich: The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays because we can just sit back and enjoy each other with no pressure of gift-giving (yes, this can be a little stressful don’t you think?).  We usually spend the day at the pool and eat bits and pieces all day long.  You know how it is!  This year I want to make a couple patriotic treats to bring to the pool and these are some simple but delicious treats that just about anyone can make.  Like I said, July 4th is a no-pressure holiday so let’s not stress too much about the food!  Enjoy yourselves! These…
