Recipe :: Flax Smoothie to start off your day!

    April 3, 2016 /

Flaxseed is a great source of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. During my studies in human nutrition I learned about the many benefits of flaxseeds.  You can find ground or whole flaxseeds at your local grocery store.  I use them in my daughter’s favorite pancake mix (shhh, she’s none the wiser) and mix it in recipes when I can.  This morning we made a yummy smoothie using a couple of tablespoons of flaxseeds and my family is loving it.  In fact, they asked for seconds! Below is the super easy recipe to try out. Flaxseeds are the richest plant source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 that may help protect against…

Spring Cleaning Your Liver: Best Ways To Cleanse   The liver is found on the right side of your body, your largest internal organ plus the hardest working organ in the body. It has hundreds of functions from processing all the foods you eat and drink, storage of nutrients, produces proteins, breaks down fats that are used for energy and aids in breaking down chemicals to be removed from the body, just to name a few. Giving your liver support, will help it function optimally and help you ward off any possible illnesses.   Spring cleaning is not just for your house but it’s also the perfect time for your…

Natralia Products Provide Natural Relief from Eczema and Psoriasis

    March 1, 2016 /

My daughter has very sensitive skin and we’ve had to use chemical free products since she was baby.  Around the time my milk supply started to dry up was when we started to see more and more eczema spread on my daughter’s body.  She was around 6 months old when this started and it wasn’t until we took her to this alternative treatment (Neurowaves.com) prescribed by her pediatrician that we were able to get it under control.  The eczema was so bad that it had spread across her belly and up her arms.  I use to get looks from other moms like I wasn’t doing anything about it –…

Tips for taking mini-breaks during your busy workweek!

    February 21, 2016 /

You know how it is, you push yourself all day long and find around 3 o’clock you are done.  At least you would like to be done for the day, but as a busy parent that isn’t likely!  I remind myself to take little breaks throughout the day because sitting in front of the computer all day is just not good for my health.  I heard something along these lines that “sitting all day is for our generation is what smoking was for previous generations.”  Basically, if you have a job that requires you to sit most of the day, be sure to get up and move around from time to time! …

Becoming an Active Participant in Your Health

    January 26, 2016 /

With the start of the new year my health was at the top of my mind.  I have been so busy taking care of my family, work and all the other activities that us moms find ourselves filled to the brim with each week that I realized that I wasn’t taking very good care of my health.  You know how it is, we tell ourselves that we just don’t have the time to exercise regularly and will sometimes grab a snack or meal that we don’t normally include in our diet.  I know with all the events I attend with work we are constantly enticed with delicious yet fattening foods.  But I wanted to be an…
