    October 20, 2017 /

With Netflix originals rich in history and complexity, following plot lines may have you turning to Google to search for facts while you watch. Whether you’re getting sucked into the historical dramas of The Crown or Narcos and want to learn more about the Royal Family or the infamous cartels, Google is the one to turn to while streaming your favorite Netflix shows. Netflix Releases 15 Birthdays On-Demand Featurettes

    October 5, 2017 /

Baking dozens of cupcakes for school, DIY disasters that don’t look anything like the Pinterest inspirations—sound familiar? When it comes to planning your kids’ birthday parties, the pressure can be overwhelming for parents. You’re not alone, nearly three-quarters (71%) of parents wish there was an easier way to make birthdays feel special for their kids. Wish granted—no candles required.  This year we were so busy around my daughter’s birthday that we ended up not having an actual party (granted we took her to Sneaker Con which she was very excited to go to) but nothing compares to actually blowing out candles with family and friends around.  But the pressure can be a little…

Netflix’s ATYPICAL original series shows the humanness in all of us

    August 12, 2017 /

Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum as he searches for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny yet emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal? Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as his mother, Elsa, who is on her own journey of self-discovery.   Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug. Brigette Lundy-Paine (Margot vs Lily, The Glass Castle) plays Sam’s sister Casey and Amy Okuda (How to Get Away with Murder)…

The Importance of Finding “Down Time”

    July 20, 2017 /

#MomSneak. America has spoken: 97% of moms say that they had more time for themselves before motherhood, and now, three-quarters (71%) of moms admit to sneaking in TV “me-time” while juggling a busy schedule, with some even hiding from their kids for just a moment of peace. With moms doing it anywhere and everywhere in the neighborhood when the kids aren’t around, sneaking is the new bingeing. Luckily, my husband is pretty good about knowing when I need a little alone downtime and let’s me go catch a show or two with no distractions. He’ll usually take our daughter to the pool while I catch a new movie or show on…

Anne with an E is a coming-of-age story now on Netflix

    May 22, 2017 /

One of my favorite childhood books, Anne of Green Gables, has been re-imagined and Anne with an E premiered on Netflix last week.  I absolutely LOVED this book and have thought about the story and Anne quite often over the years.  Along with The Black Stallion, and Island of the Blue Dolphins, Anne of Green Gables holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my childhood and how magical these stories were for me.  Still are frankly, and I love sharing them with my ten year old! Based on the classic book and film, this is a coming-of-age story about a young orphan who is seeking…
