Dinosaur Train Special “Classic in the Jurassic” Premieres August 18th
We started watching Dinosaur Train when it first came out a few years back and have been fans ever since. I really think the show is pure genius – combining trains and dinosaurs, with some fun tunes and educational aspects = a very popular show for the kids! On Monday, August 18, PBS KIDS will premiere “Classic in the Jurassic,” an all-new one hour special from The Jim Henson Company’s hit series DINOSAUR TRAIN! Classic in the Jurassic: In the special, kids travel through time with the Pteranodon family to an Olympic-type competition in which dinosaur teams representing three Mesozoic time periods compete in contests. Following the…

Word UP It’s WordGirl :: New Season Starts August 4th
Get ready to embark on electrifying, brand-new, word-fueled adventures when WordGirl, the Emmy Award-winning animated TV series from Scholastic Media, makes its Season 7 debut, Monday, August 4, on PBS KIDS (check local listings)! WordGirl is one of our favorite PBS Kids shows! I really like that she teaches children about the meaning of words through her adventuring. Each episode we find WordGirl fighting off some evil doings with her sidekick Captain Huggy Face, while spotlighting a vocabulary word and using it in different situations to help children understand the meaning of the word and how it is used. Make sure to check out our interview the creator of WordGirl, Dorothea…

The Kratt Brothers Teach Kids About Wildlife in a New Special
There are so many great programs on television that help parents supplement their children’s education. One of my favorite programs is the Wild Kratt’s. These brothers, Chris and Martin, have brought the fun into wildlife. Since watching Zoboomafoo with my then 3 year old, our family have been big fans of these two. As a kid, I use to love watching the nature programs and learn about the world around us. My daughter shares this same love of nature and we enjoy watching Wild Kratt’s together quite often. This coming Monday the Kratt brothers, Martin and Chris will be educating kids about the differences between a crocodile and an alligator. I…

Earn a FREE Book in the PBS Kids and Pottery Barn Kids “Summer Reading Challenge”
You know what a big fan I am of PBS Kids programming, but you might not know how much I devoured the Pottery Barn Kids catalogue when my daughter was in the womb to get ideas for her nursery! They have such great design ideas and the quality of their products are pretty fantastic! So the collaboration between PBS Kids and Pottery Barn Kids with their Summer Reading Challenge is a great fit! PBS Kids is committed to providing resources and suggestions to promote summer reading. “Research shows that children experience significant learning loss when they do not participate in educational activities during the summer months, and that loss is…
