A Craft & Recipe to Celebrate Your Favorite Furry Friends

The only thing that can make a great movie or TV series even better is a four-legged star. Celebrating pets this month, Netflix has pulled together a few of our favorite dogs, cats and even monkeys who hit the big screen. Aside from upping the cute factor, these loyal companions can deliver important lessons on courage, protection and love.  I grew up with lots of pets in the house and I think at one time we had over 10 dogs, 3 cats and a couple goldfish living at our place.  Granted, eight of those were puppies our Standard Poodle had just given birth to, but I have always enjoyed having a cat and dog.  I think it is good for kids to grow up with a pet so they learn how to take care of them as well as gain their friendship.

Make sure to check out  the world’s greatest feline fighter, whose swashbuckling adventure-comedy series, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, comes to Netflix on Jan. 16. We saw this movie in the theater and really enjoyed it!  As you can see, we have our own Puss in Boots and he is such a good sport when my daughter and I dress him up in Build-A-Bear outfits!  He seems to like it actually, look how proud (or is that annoyance?) he looks!

If you haven’t read our story about Max you can check it out here.  We got him from the German Shepherd Rewcue Group of Orange County when he was only 10 weeks old.  He was a chubby little thing and it was anyone’s guess how big he would get (mom and her puppies were rescued but no idea about dad). He grew into a large 110+ pound dog but is a sweetheart with my daughter. I love that she is developing these friendships with our furry family.

Here are some great shows to stream on Netflix for your littlest member to tweens and adults.  Plus, there is a craft and recipe to try out as well.  I know we will be trying out the homemade hot chocolate and Marsh-Meows this month.  We don’t need much of an excuse in this house to drink hot chocolate and eat marshmallows!
