Wellness :: One Woman’s Story

I have struggled with my weight ever since I was little. I’ve been on every diet from Weight Watchers to Jenny Craig. I even went as far as getting lap-band surgery eight years ago. I did manage to lose around 140+ pounds in about eight months. I was then blessed with the pregnancy of my first and only child and ended up gaining almost all the weight back during my pregnancy. A big realization happened a little over 3 months ago and I decided it was time to turn my life around and work on myself and my weight again. I realized I needed to start taking better care of myself, not only for myself, but also for my son.

After being on diet after diet over the years I decided it was time for an overhaul, a lifestyle change. I have been doing my current program for 13 weeks now and I’m down 18 pounds. I have had my good weeks and bad weeks. I was so impressed by the program that I decided to become a coach and help other people as well. Something to remember when losing weight is it’s not just about the scale, it is important to take measurements as well. I still have a long way to go in my personal journey, however I found a wonderful support group and family that is cheering me on. If you are struggling and need help, let me be your cheerleader.

Here’s some tips from the program that I’ve done so far to help:

  1. Find ways to boost your metabolism. This can be done with certain foods, drinks, or exercise.
  2. Add an early morning protein to your routine. High protein foods will keep you fuller through the morning and less likely to snack.  Also research juicing and protein shakes and see what works for you.
  3. Add at least 8oz. of water every hour for at least 8 hours throughout the day. Water helps flush your system.

Exercise Tips:

You don’t have to go to a gym or buy expensive workout equipment to workout at home.

You can go for a walk.

You can watch exercise videos on YouTube.

You can use items around the house for extra weight such as canned food, fill old paint buckets with water,etc.

Self-Care Tips:

Make sure you are still taking some time out for you during your journey.

Try to set aside a little bit of time each day for meditation, reading, etc.

Relax in a nice bubble bath, have some friends over for movie night, etc.

Food recommendations:

One ingredient foods are key to your success.

Just remember don’t eat C.R.A.P. Carbonated Drinks, Refined Sugars, Artificial Sweeteners & Colors, Processed Foods. Do eat F.O.O.D. Fruit & Veggies, Organic Lean Protein, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Drink Water.
