New Krusteaz Cookie Mixes Make Clean Up a Breeze

I don’t know where in the world you are, but in Southern California it’s been hot. Thanks to the heat, I haven’t been turning my oven on to do much baking, but I recently got a package full of really good reasons to bake cookies.

Krusteaz sent me a package full of cookie mixes to try, complete with one apron for myself and an apron for one of the kids, a potholder, a set of measuring spoons and a super-fun set of cookie cutters. Despite the heat, we’ve baked a few batches and we are really enjoying the deliciousness of the soft, chewy cookies.

The box came full of different cookie varieties including triple chocolate chunk, butter vanilla sugar, Meyer lemon, oatmeal scotchie, double peanut butter and brown sugar oatmeal. The triple chocolate chunk cookies were wonderful. We made these for friends when they came over for a playdate and the plate was wiped clean before I could snap a picture of the kids with their cookies.

Our second favorite was the Meyer lemon. I used to make lemon whippersnappers, and though I love them, the cool whip in the mix makes for a difficult preparation. The Krusteaz Meyer lemon cookie mix tastes quite similar and the prep is much less difficult. We whipped up a batch of the butter vanilla sugar and we planned on using the cookie cutters, but even after refrigerating the dough, the heat in our house (thank you summer) made the dough too tacky to use cookie cutters. So we rolled them into balls and enjoyed them anyway.

I like to bake with my kids but I admit that sometimes I want something less, well, messy. The measuring and mixing of multiple ingredients like baking powder and flour and salt and vanilla sometimes turns me off to the task. Once in a while is fine, but cooking with kids can lead to a rather time-intensive deep-cleaning. That’s why the Krusteaz mixes are so nice. Each mix requires almost the same ingredients: 1 egg and 1 stick of butter. The Meyer lemon mix only has one additional ingredient and that is the yellow crystal sugar that you roll the cookie in before baking.

The limited ingredient requirement means my cleanup is manageable and my kids are able to stick with the task long enough to complete it. And we reap the rewards a tad bit quicker!

The delicious new Krusteaz cookie mixes are just in time for the holidays. You’re sure to please your friends and family with one of the many fun flavors available and you won’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to deliver a soft, chewy cookie. Yes, we received the cookie mixes for free in exchange for this post, but that didn’t affect our opinions in any way. We truly enjoyed the cookies and had a great time baking them!
