What’s Hot in Southern California :: Art in the Park on October 10th

 

The 12th Annual Art in the Park takes place Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 to 4:00 on the Civic Green at the Newport Beach Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Dr., Newport Beach. The Newport Beach Arts Foundation sponsors this free event.  You can view the works of over 100 artists and artisans selling their fine art paintings, sculptures, photography, glass art, woodcraft, jewelry, and other beautiful items made for personal use or elegant home decor.  We will also have creative art activities for adults and children presented by the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a non-profit foundation founded by the world famous animator and artist Chuck Jones.

And, if that weren’t enough, we will have a watercolor artist on-site painting the day’s events. Everyone will enjoy watching her work.  Come talk to the artists and ask them about their work while you shop. There is plenty of free parking.  Food is available at 24 Carrots Cafe, located inside the Main Library.

The Chuck Jones Center will provide activities for children of all ages, from toddlers to those in their 90’s and beyond. There will be projects aimed at helping us retain and make better use of our memory; projects to introduce artists of all ages to cartooning; and simple projects for the very young.

The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity located in Orange County. “Founded in 1999 by the four-time Academy Award recipient and legendary animation creator and director, Chuck Jones, the Center’s vision is a world where creativity is known and experienced in every discipline, by the many, not just the few.”

They are dedicated to re-vigorating the creative spirit through art classes, exhibitions, lectures, film festivals and their online community. Their creative community inspires joy and innovation in people of all ages. The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity inspires us to use our innate creative genius to approach every challenge as a beginner and to receptive to all possibilities.
