The Mountain High Resort Offers Local Fun

We were invited to go check out Mountain High this month and spend the day skiing. I was a bit nervous to be honest as I have tried to take it easy since my neck injury last year but I figured if I could endure the Screamin’ Over California ride at Disneyland (my daughter made me do this on my birthday) then I was going to give skiing a shot. My goal was to not fall or break anything and I succeeded! As Borat would say “Great Success!”

Even if you haven’t skied in awhile, it really is just like riding a bike. You pick it up right away! We were really fortunate as Mountain High had over 24 inches of fresh snow! Yes, El Nino has made made this the perfect time to unpack your ski’s and head out to Mountain High for a fun day with the family.

Mountain High Resort is located in the Angeles National Forest and is up to an hour closer than Big Bear resorts with no mountain driving.  We left around 5:30 am from Orange County and arrived at Mountain High around 7:15 am.  I would recommend leaving early in the morning so you can avoid traffic.

Mountain High is actually three resorts in one, each with stunning differences in atmosphere and terrain.  A single lift ticket is good at all three areas, and there are free shuttles traveling between East and West.  The North Resort requires you to drive there directly (Source: Mountain High).

Each resort offers something for everyone.  We stayed on the Westside all day and my daughter enjoyed a lesson at the Children’s Sports Center and my husband and I enjoyed both the Beginner and Intermediate runs!

Ski Lessons for everyone!

Mountain High offers children’s (Ages 4-12) lessons at the Children’s Sports Center as well as Private lessons for all abilities ages 3 and up that take place from 9am to 5pm.  They offer discounts for “Early Bird” lessons, Family Packages, and more.

Affordable Pricing:

I like that Mountain High is one of the more affordable ski resorts around.  With prices and packages starting at $89 (weekdays) and $99 (on weekends) that includes two 1-hour & 45-minute group lessons, ski or snowboard rental and an 8-hour lower mountain lift ticket.

Night Skiing:

Ski or ride under the stars every evening (peak season) from 5pm to 10pm.  Mountain High is the only Southern California resort opens 7 nights a week! At night more than 85% of the West Resort is lit, including the terrain park and teaching shelves.

Entertainment:

We took a much needed break (this mom was tired!) and headed up to get a tasty lunch and the best hot chocolate I’ve had in years!  It might have been the chilly weather but I highly suggest you ordering some hot chocolate.  Enjoy cocktails, burgers and live entertainment and during the evening hours movies, concerts, vendors and live radio remote broadcasts.

We didn’t get a chance to meet up with Yeti but he stops by the mountain from time to time so be sure to be on the lookout for him and tweet out #HaveYouSeenHim

Good News!  Mountain High Resort is offering a family of four lift tickets!  Date and time is up to the winner and will be arranged between Mountain High and the contest winner.  Good Luck!

Note:  We were provided with Mountain High tickets and ski rentals for the day but all opinions are my own.
