Worlds Best Marinara Sauce!

You know some nights you just crave pasta?!  Well, last night was one of those nights and we went on a search to try out a new marinara sauce.  We had picked up some yummy homemade meatballs at our local Italian deli (I highly advise to do this to cut down on time in the kitchen) and found a delicious recipe on All Recipes.

We always like to add our own spin on recipes – you know add more garlic or olive oil.  But this recipe is pretty right on so we followed it minus the white wine.  The whole family really liked it – even our daughter whose favorite dish is spaghetti – so I’d call her an expert of sorts on sauces.  This sauce is fairly mild so the kiddies will like it to!

You Will Need:

2 (14.5 ounce) cans of stewed tomatoes

1 (6 ounces) can tomato paste

4 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1 clove garlic, minced (We used a bit more but it is your preference.  Our family loves garlic!)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

6 Tablespoons cold-pressed olive oil (try to choose cold-pressed virgin olive oil in a glass jar – by using cold-pressed it retains the good nutrients of olive oil)

1/3 cup finely diced onion

1/2 cup white white (optional)

Directions:

Prep: 15 minutes

Cook: 30 minutes

Ready in: 45 minutes

In a food processor place Italian tomatoes, tomato paste, chopped parsley, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper and blend until smooth

In a large skillet over medium heat saute the chopped onion in olive oil for about 2 to 3 minutes until golden.  Add the blended tomato sauce and white wine.

Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Top with your favorite meatballs and Parmesan cheese and you are set!  Enjoy!

What is your favorite pasta dish?
