Artistic Trading Cards – Calling All Kids

Remember how much you enjoyed getting mail in the mailbox as a child?  Well, your kid can have that same feeling of having the world reach them with a little help from the grown-up artist in their life.  This is a great summer activity for the kids and with the holidays approaching you can make themed-art as well!

Join In The Fun:

Artistic Trading Cards (ATC) are a world-wide phenomenon and a fun way for children and adults to craft together. As with any ATC, the only rule is the card needs to be 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches in size. Any artistic medium is acceptable, and Google has endless examples and descriptions to help ease the journey to creating kid- centered art. The sky is the limit!

Get Creative:

Paint, colored pencils, stickers, stencils, glitter, feathers, stamps, ribbons, flat buttons, and anything else that you can adhere or sew to paper will work. ATCs should be made on, or glued to, card stock or other rigid backing (Cut up tissue boxes and cereal boxes work great!).

Trade Your Cards:

Trading the cards is possible. You can trade ATCs by joining Artistic Trading Cards – Calling All Kids on Facebook.  This is a closed group where parents or teachers assist young artists share and exchange their creative trading cards.  Make a request to join the group and Nancy Polley, a grandmother of two aspiring artists, will assist you in becoming a trader. The site guidelines will provide  further information once you join. There is no age limit, and the group understands that an adult may be needed to assist young artists with creating, posting, and trading (mailing) art cards.
